Iran halts public display of defence achievements over security concerns

09 February 2026 15:04

Iran’s Ministry of Defence has temporarily halted the public display of its defence achievements, citing security considerations, a ministry spokesperson confirmed.

Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik, speaking to reporters during a ceremony marking the integration of 100 rescue drones into the Iranian Red Crescent Society, highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in Iran’s defence sector, Mehr News Agency reports.

“Artificial intelligence plays a highly effective role in defence technology,” Talaei-Nik said. “The Ministry of Defence has invested in this field and is actively pursuing the development of artificial intelligence programs, microelectronics, and cyber technologies.”

According to the spokesperson, the decision to suspend public unveilings aligns with the principle of safeguarding national security. “The public unveiling of defence equipment and achievements has been suspended at present due to security considerations and the principle of protection,” the official said.

Despite the suspension, the spokesperson emphasized that Iran’s armed forces continue to receive new defence capabilities. “New defence achievements have already been delivered to and integrated into Iran’s defence units,” the statement noted, signaling ongoing progress in the country’s military modernization efforts.
