Iran intercepts explosives parcel near Iraq border
11 July 2026 11:38
Iranian border authorities said they had intercepted and neutralised a parcel containing explosives that had been concealed for covert transport near the border with Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
According to the semi-official Fars news agency, the shipment included four grenades and eight improvised explosive devices equipped with metal fragments and wiring. Officials believe the materials were intended for use in planned sabotage attacks.
Iranian security services have opened an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for dispatching and transporting the consignment.
