Iran issues strong warning to US over potential military action Signals “Powder Keg” consequences

Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has issued a stern warning to the United States, cautioning that any act of aggression against Iran could ignite a catastrophic chain reaction, destabilising the entire region.

Speaking at an event in Tehran on March 28 to mark International Quds Day, Qalibaf lambasted a recent letter from the US President, claiming it offered no reasonable proposals for the removal of sanctions, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.

The Iranian official condemned the letter’s “mobster-like” tone, comparing it to the treatment of US allies under US President Donald Trump. He declared: “But it is impossible to deceive the Iranian nation or bully it.”

Qalibaf, emphasising Iran’s military readiness and defence capabilities, added that the country is unafraid of foreign threats. “The Americans themselves are aware how vulnerable they are. If they violate Iran’s border, it will be like a spark in the powder keg that would blow up the entire region. Then, their (US) and their allies’ bases will not be safe,” he warned.

The speaker also criticised the US’s approach, which seeks to pair threats with calls for negotiations. He argued that this strategy aims to impose American demands on Iran and deprive the nation of its defence capabilities. “The US’ ulterior motive behind negotiations is disarmament of Iran,” Qalibaf asserted.

Earlier in March, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, echoed similar sentiments, describing the push for talks from certain world powers as a tactic to dominate Iran’s national agenda.

“The insistence of some bully governments on negotiations is not aimed at resolving issues, but rather (aims) to assert and impose their own expectations,” Khamenei stated, adding, “Absolutely, the Islamic Republic will not accept their expectations.”
