Iran launches ballistic missiles at US base in Jordan

Iran launched ballistic missiles at a US military base in Jordan, Axios reports.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) later confirmed the attack, saying air defence systems had intercepted the missiles.

The two sides had not exchanged strikes since Friday, July 24, after nearly two weeks of mutual attacks. During that period, the United States targeted Iranian military and infrastructure facilities, while Iran responded with strikes on US bases.

Last week, US President Donald Trump ordered a halt to new strikes on Iran. He later said the two countries had resumed what he described as "very friendly" negotiations.

Iran's Foreign Ministry has also stated that dialogue between Tehran and Washington is continuing.
