19 August 2026 12:28
Iranian lawmakers have drafted a 12-point proposal on the Strait of Hormuz that includes plans for distributing revenues linked to its use.
Qasem Ravanbakhsh, a representative for the city of Qom in Iran’s parliament, said 40% of the revenues generated from the strait would be allocated to strengthening the country’s armed forces and military infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
The remaining 60% would be directed towards the welfare of the Iranian people, Ravanbakhsh said.
He added that the proposal was aimed at establishing how opportunities associated with the Strait of Hormuz could be used in Iran’s interests.
