Iran maintains direct contact on Zangezur, says FM Aragchi

On November 6, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said that Tehran remains in direct contact with regional parties over the Zangezur issue and has received assurances that there is no threat to Iran’s security.

Speaking at a meeting with students in the city of Hamedan, Aragchi said that Iran would not accept any change to regional borders or geopolitical realities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.

“We have been assured that there will be no threat to Iran regarding the Zangezur issue,” he stated. “Of course, we are closely monitoring the situation.”

Aragchi reiterated that Iran views regional cooperation as the best way to ensure lasting stability and security, stressing that Tehran continues to promote the “3+3” regional format, which brings together Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Russia, and Türkiye.
