Iran names new ambassadors to Georgia, Armenia
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has announced the appointments of Ali Mojani and Khalil Shirgholami as Iran’s new ambassadors to Georgia and Armenia, respectively.
The introductions were made during the Conference on Economic Diplomacy held in Iran, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
Araghchi underscored the growing importance of diplomatic engagement in advancing Iran’s regional interests.
“For the upcoming diplomacy meeting, we will invite members of parliament and officials from various institutions in the northwestern provinces of the country,” the foreign minister said. “Our ambassadors to the three Caucasus countries will also be invited, and I would like to note that two of them are present at this meeting: Mojani, who is awaiting approval for his mission to Georgia, and Shirgholami, who will soon depart for Armenia.”
Ali Mojani previously headed the Archives and Diplomatic History Department at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as the Islamic Republic’s Cultural Advisor in Germany.
Khalil Shirgholami, prior to his appointment, was the Deputy Head of the Research and Analysis Department at the Center for Political and International Studies of the Foreign Ministry. His new posting to Yerevan will mark his first diplomatic mission as an ambassador.
