Iran offers support services to ships in Strait of Hormuz

Iran has announced that it is prepared to provide logistical and support services to commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement released by the press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organisation said ships passing through the strategic waterway would be offered provisions, fuel, medical assistance, sanitary services, and permitted repair materials.

Tehran said the initiative is intended to help ensure the security of maritime navigation and maintain stable shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy transit routes.
