Iran opens Strait of Hormuz to humanitarian, strategic cargo Urgent

Iran has authorised the passage of vessels carrying humanitarian and strategic cargo through the Strait of Hormuz, according to local media reports on April 4.

Ships transporting essential goods — including key food supplies and medicines — will be permitted to transit the waterway en route to Iranian ports or designated anchorages in the Gulf of Oman, Caliber.Az reports, citing Khabar Fouri.

The decision follows approval and directives issued by the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, alongside assurances of readiness from the country’s armed forces.

In a statement, authorities said vessels could proceed through the Strait provided they comply with established procedures and protocols, adding that detailed operational guidelines are currently being implemented.

Officials also called for the submission of vessel lists in advance to facilitate coordination for transit through the strategically vital shipping lane, which handles a significant share of global oil and commodity flows.
