Iran parliament panel advances bill on strategic management of Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy has completed its review of a bill outlining a “Strategic Action Plan” for managing the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy chokepoint, according to lawmaker Ahmad Rastineh.

Rastineh said the draft legislation is now expected to be submitted to the full parliament for debate and a vote in a forthcoming plenary session, Mehr reports. 

He confirmed that the committee had finalised its assessment of the proposal.

The details of the plan have not yet been publicly disclosed.
