Iran puts 400 military units on full alert amid rising tensions

A senior adviser to the commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said the country’s armed forces are at their highest level of readiness and prepared to respond decisively to any aggression by the United States or Israel.

Brigadier General Morteza Ghorbani, a senior adviser to the IRGC chief, said that 400 units from the IRGC and Iran’s regular army are currently on full alert. His remarks came amid heightened regional tensions and growing rhetoric involving Iran, the US and Israel, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.

“They are ready. If any aggression occurs, they will level it [Israel] to the ground,” Ghorbani said, according to Iranian media.

He added that the Army, the IRGC and the Law Enforcement Force are in full operational readiness, describing them as standing with their “hands on the trigger.” Ghorbani said this level of preparedness reflects Iran’s deterrence capabilities and is rooted in what he described as the legacy and path of slain IRGC General Qassem Soleimani.

“With pride, I say that the Army, the IRGC and the police forces are fully prepared,” he stated.

The comments followed an earlier warning issued on Tuesday by the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme Defense Council, which condemned what it described as escalating threats and interventionist statements directed against the Islamic Republic.

In its statement, the Secretariat stressed that Iran’s security, independence and territorial integrity constitute a “red line,” warning that any act of aggression or continued hostile conduct would be met with a firm, proportionate and decisive response.

The statement also noted that, within the framework of legitimate self-defence, Iran does not limit its actions solely to responding after an attack has occurred. According to the Secretariat, clear and tangible signs of threat are factored into Iran’s security calculations, underscoring an approach based on deterrence and constant preparedness.
