14 June 2024 20:14
Iran's nuclear program remains committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and will not succumb to pressure from the US and other Western countries.
Ali Shamkhani, the political adviser to the Islamic Republic's supreme leader, said, according to TASS.
"Iran's nuclear program is based on national will and development strategy. Committed to the NPT and safeguards, it will not succumb to pressure," he wrote on his social media page X.
"The US and some Western countries would dismantle Iran's nuclear industry if they could," he added.
On June 5, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a new resolution criticizing Tehran for allegedly not cooperating enough with the agency. The resolution was proposed by Britain, Germany, and France.
