Iran rejects halt to nuclear enrichment program, source says

Iranian authorities have not agreed to stop their uranium enrichment program and will never do so, despite statements by US President Donald Trump, a source in Tehran told CNN.

According to the source, Iran “will never accept” such proposals. The channel, citing its own sources, noted that the United States had previously proposed a 20-year pause in uranium enrichment, to which Iran responded with a counterproposal of a five-year suspension. Washington, however, rejected it.

Last week, Trump claimed in a telephone interview with NewsNation that Iran had agreed to stop uranium enrichment.
