Iran releases 10 Indian sailors detained since 2025
Iran has released 10 Indian sailors who had been detained since 2025, with arrangements being made for their earliest possible return to India, India’s Directorate General of Shipping has said.
It said the seafarers were held after their oil tanker, MV Harbour Phoenix, was intercepted near Jask Port in July 2025, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iran International.
According to the agency, the crew members were subsequently imprisoned in Iran following the incident.
“The Directorate General of Shipping reiterates its unwavering commitment towards the welfare, safety, and protection of Indian seafarers worldwide. Necessary arrangements are being coordinated for the earliest return of the crew members to India,” the statement noted.
