Iran reports preemptive arrest of 19 suspected militants

Iran’s intelligence ministry has said that 19 alleged militants have been arrested in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, with security forces claiming they dismantled multiple cells before any attack could be carried out.

According to the ministry, four alleged militant cells were identified and neutralised during the operation, Iran International reports.

The ministry stated that most of those detained were foreign nationals who had entered Iran after being recruited by militant groups and receiving military training.
