Iran reports third strike on Bushehr nuclear plant in recent days
Iran has reported a new strike on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, with a projectile hitting the site late on Friday evening, March 27, marking the third such incident targeting the facility in recent days.
The development was announced by the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran, as cited by CNN.
According to the organisation, there have been no reports of casualties, material damage, or technical malfunctions as a result of the strike. Iranian authorities blamed both the US Department of Defence and the Israeli military for the attack.
CNN said it has sought comment from the Pentagon and from Israel’s armed forces.
The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that Iran had notified it of the incident.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated his “deep concern” and urged military actors to exercise maximum restraint in order to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.
