Iran’s cultural legacy under fire: Dozens of heritage sites damaged

At least 56 museums, historical buildings, and cultural complexes across multiple Iranian provinces have suffered structural and significant damage amid ongoing military actions, ISNA reports, citing the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage.

Tehran Province has the highest number of affected sites, with 19 monuments and buildings damaged, while Kurdistan Province reported 12 key historical structures impacted. 

The ministry emphasised that the destruction affects not only cultural assets but also the country’s historical legacy and called on the international community to focus on protecting cultural heritage in conflict zones.
