Iran’s FM thanks UNESCO for response to Golestan Palace bombing
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed gratitude to UNESCO for its responsible response to the recent bombing of Golestan Palace, a World Heritage Site, in a post on X.
Araghchi emphasised that protecting cultural heritage, including historical monuments in Isfahan, is an international concern and expressed hope that UNESCO will maintain its principled stance regarding potential future attacks on historic sites, Caliber.Az reports.

Golestan Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tehran, was reported damaged during the ongoing conflict between Iran and US–Israeli forces, with nearby airstrikes causing shock waves that shattered windows, broke decorative elements, and disrupted interior structures.
UNESCO confirmed that the palace is among several Iranian heritage sites affected by the strikes and raised alarm about the broader impacts on cultural monuments amid the war.
Reports indicate that although the palace was not directly hit by missiles, blast debris and pressure from explosions nearby caused visible damage to its historic halls and architectural features.
Following the attack, Araghchi blamed Israel for bombing Iranian historical monuments, stating that it is natural for a regime that won't last a century to hate nations with ancient pasts
Israel is bombing Iranian historical monuments dating as far back as the 14th century. Multiple UNESCO World Heritage Sites have been struck.

It's natural that a regime that won't last a century hates nations with ancient pasts. But where's UNESCO? Its silence is unacceptable. pic.twitter.com/7eu09Cjiyf
