Iran’s FM touts national resolve at Quds Day marches despite explosions PHOTO / VIDEO

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said the country’s adversaries would ultimately be forced to recognise the strength of the Iranian people, as millions rallied across Iran for the annual Quds Day demonstrations on March 13.

Speaking at a mass gathering in Tehran, Araghchi said large crowds had taken to the streets despite what he described as brutal attacks by Israel and the United States, and that the turnout showed the Iranian public’s determination to support the Islamic Republic, Jerusalem (Quds), the Palestinian cause and Iran’s national ideals. He added that Iran would continue on the same path with strength, Caliber.Az reports via the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. 

Videos circulating from the rally appeared to show demonstrators continuing to march even as explosions were heard in the surrounding area. Participants were seen chanting slogans and waving posters of Iran’s current Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and his father, former supreme leader who was killed in a US-Israeli strike last month.

Several senior Iranian officials were also seen in videos from the event, including national security chief Ali Larijani, judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i and former acting president Mohammad Mokhber.

The Al Quds day is an annual international rally in support of Palestinians that happens on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
