Iran's IRGC announces success in Chabahar operation, two Jaish al-Adl fighters killed

The Quds Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces has confirmed that two members of the Jaish al-Adl militant group were killed during the ongoing "Martyrs of Security" operation in Chabahar.

The IRGC also stated that six other individuals associated with the group have been apprehended, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.

The two individuals killed in the operation were reported to be non-Iranian nationals, according to the statement released by the Quds Headquarters on Tuesday evening.

Notably, Jaish ul-Adl, or Army of Justice, is a Baloch Sunni militant separatist group primarily operating in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, home to a significant Baloch population and a porous border with Pakistan. The group, which has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Iranian military personnel, advocates for the independence of Sistan and Baluchestan and greater rights for the Baloch people. It maintains ties with another Iranian Baloch armed group, Ansar Al-Furqan.

Founded in 2012 by former members of the Sunni militant group Jundallah, Jaish ul-Adl rose after the execution of Jundallah's leader in 2010. It first gained prominence with an attack in 2013. The group has been designated a terrorist organisation by several countries, including Iran, the US, China, and Pakistan.

Jaish ul-Adl has also cooperated with Kurdish separatist groups in Iran and opposes Iranian involvement in the Syrian civil war. Iranian state media have claimed that Saudi Arabia and the US support the group. Salahuddin Farooqui led Jaish ul-Adl until his death in 2024; his brother, Amir Naroui, was killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
