Iran’s IRGC claims local support aided strikes on US positions in Jordan

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that residents of Jordan “provided assistance in carrying out strikes against US facilities” in the country.

In a statement cited by IRIB, the IRGC thanked Jordanians “for the information provided,” alleging that it “contributed to strikes against US facilities and helped kill dozens of American military personnel.”

The IRGC also stressed that ballistic missile strikes had “destroyed” Boeing C-17 military transport aircraft at an airport in the Jordanian city of Aqaba.

The statement follows a mid-July 2026 attack, when Iranian ballistic missiles and drones struck the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (also known as Al-Azraq Air Base) in Jordan, killing two US service members, leaving one missing and injuring several others.

US Central Command confirmed the casualties from the July 17 attack and responded with multiple rounds of strikes on Iranian military targets, including IRGC-related facilities, to degrade Iran's capabilities.

Jordanian forces intercepted many incoming projectiles, and the base has served as a key hub for US air operations in the region.
