Iran’s IRGC rejects Trump’s June 14 deal-signing claim

14 June 2026 09:03

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has denied reports that Tehran plans to sign an agreement with the United States on Sunday, June 14, while criticising US President Donald Trump’s “unusual insistence” on finalising the deal on that date.

In a statement published on Telegram, the IRGC described the proposed timeline as a “test for Iran’s negotiating team” and noted that Trump’s announcement came “despite Iranian negotiators explicitly stating that the memorandum has not yet been finalised and that signing on Sunday is definitely not happening.”

The IRGC also suggested that Trump may have sought to align the signing with his birthday on June 14.

“Some observers believe his insistence may be driven by a desire to use the occasion symbolically and turn it into a personal publicity event,” the statement read.
