Iran's MFA spokesperson compares US rhetoric to Hitler

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has accused US officials of blaming Iran for rising fuel prices and the disruption of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on X, Baqaei argued that the public should not forget who initiated the war and actions that led to the current crisis, Caliber.Az reports.

He said US officials were attempting to attribute the consequences of the conflict, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and disruption to commercial shipping, to Iran.

Baqaei compared the US approach to Nazi Germany’s justification of its 1939 invasion of Poland, saying Adolf Hitler had similarly portrayed the invasion as a defensive action.

"This isn't a new trick, though. In 1939, Hitler similarly framed his invasion of Poland as a defensive action," he wrote. 

He questioned whether blaming the victim for the consequences of an unlawful “war of choice” should be regarded as “strategic brilliance” or instead as a symptom of “The March of Folly.”
