Iran’s naval wargame kicks off in Persian Gulf

02 August 2023 11:58

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy on August 2 started a naval wargame on Abu Musa island, the sovereignty of which is disputed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

IRGC's naval wargame is dubbed "Martyr Eshaq Dara" and it is held to show the authority and combat defence preparations of the IRGC Navy in protecting the security of the Persian Gulf and the islands, IRNA reports.

Accordingly, the implementation of various exercises and situations by operational combat units, vessels, missiles, drones, and electromagnetic warfare are included in the naval wargame.

The administration of the territory of Abu Musa Island, as well as the Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb Islands, is disputed between Iran and the UAE.
