Iran’s navy detains two foreign vessels in Strait of Hormuz

The naval forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have reported the detention of two foreign commercial vessels — MSC Francesca, said to be linked to Israel, and Epaminodes — in the Strait of Hormuz over alleged violations of navigation rules, according to Tasnim.

Officials stated that the ships were operating in territorial waters without the required authorisations and were carrying out dangerous manoeuvres, including interference with navigation systems, which endangered maritime safety.

The IRGC Navy command stressed that any breach of order and security in the Strait of Hormuz is considered a “red line” for Iran.
