Iran's new ambassador to Armenia starts mission

New extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani has presented his credentials to Armenian President Vahagn Khachatryan to officially start his mission in the Caucasus country.

During a meeting between the two officials, the president of Armenia congratulated Sobhani on his new responsibility as the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, according to a Saturday report by IRNA. 

Khachatryan referred to his country’s amicable relationship with Iran over the past three decades while expressing confidence that Sobhani’s tenure would also witness a strengthening and deepening of mutual ties.

Iran’s ambassador, for his part, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him by the president of Armenia and said that he is honored to convey the whole-hearted greetings of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi to his Armenian counterpart as well as the people of his friendly nation.

Sobhani went on to say that relations between Iran and Armenia enjoy deep historical roots and there is a great potential to develop bilateral ties.
