Iran's parliament speaker to attend Asian Parliamentary Assembly session in Baku
Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is set to travel to Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, to participate in the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), to be held on February 19-20.
The session will focus on the theme "Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy in Developing Multilateral Asian Cooperation," according to a statement from Hojjatoleslam Alireza Salimi, a member of the Iranian Parliament's Presiding Board, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
The plenary will bring together parliamentary leaders from across Asia, with Parliament speakers from 11 countries, vice speakers from five countries, and parliamentary delegations from 10 nations expected to attend. During the summit, Ghalibaf is scheduled to deliver a speech on the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering regional cooperation.
In addition to his formal address, Ghalibaf will engage in both bilateral and multilateral meetings with fellow parliamentarians on the sidelines of the summit, further strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation among Asian nations. The event is expected to play a key role in enhancing multilateral relations across the continent.
Throughout the event, meetings of the APA's executive board, plenary session, and committees addressing political, economic, budgetary, and social issues will take place. Draft decisions on these key topics will be discussed during the sessions.
At the conclusion of the session, the Baku Declaration will be adopted, along with the final report of the APA Secretariat, marking the culmination of the deliberations and agreements reached during the session.
