Iran’s president stresses distrust of US, rejects pressure for “surrender”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that deep historical mistrust toward the United States continues to shape relations between the two countries, while accusing Washington of sending contradictory and unconstructive signals.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian stated that honouring commitments forms the basis of meaningful dialogue, but argued that Iran remains skeptical due to long-standing experience with U.S. conduct, Caliber.Az reports.
Honoring commitments is the basis of meaningful dialogue. Deep historical mistrust in Iran toward U.S. gov conduct remains, while unconstructive & contradictory signals from American officials carry a bitter message; they seek Iran's surrender. Iranians do not submit to force.

He added that what Tehran views as mixed messaging from American officials carries what he described as a “bitter message” suggesting a demand for Iran’s surrender.
The Iranian president further stated that Iranians do not submit to coercion or force, reinforcing his government’s rejection of external pressure in its foreign policy.
