Iran's top prosecutor restricts property rights of citizens abroad
14 April 2026 13:34
Iran’s Prosecutor General Mohammad Movahedi Azad has ordered a suspension on issuing powers of attorney for property transfers involving Iranians living abroad who are engaged in activities against the Islamic Republic.
The measure affects the electronic system Mikhak, which allows citizens overseas to manage their assets remotely, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
According to Azad, “the ability of individuals operating abroad against Iran’s national interests to derive financial benefits within the country will be restricted.” Under the “Law on Toughening Punishment for Espionage,” and subject to legal conditions, the property of such citizens may be confiscated in favour of the state.
