Iran's Supreme Leader signals tough response to Larijani assassination

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has pledged to avenge the killing of Ali Larijani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Khamenei’s official press office said, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

“With deep sorrow, I received the tragic news of the martyrdom of Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council and the Supreme Leader’s representative on this council,” the statement read. “Every blood has a price that his ‘killers’ will soon have to pay.”

Larijani, a senior figure in Iran’s national security apparatus, was a key strategist and influential official, and his death marks a significant blow to the country’s leadership structure.
