Iran says China strategy unchanged after senior appointment

Iran’s foreign policy strategy does not change under the influence of individual developments, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has stated, commenting on the appointment of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as the special representative of the Supreme Leader on China affairs.

Sharing a post on Telegram, he said relations between Iran and China are of a strategic nature and are based on a 25-year cooperation agreement, adding that the prospects for bilateral cooperation remain “positive and stable,” Caliber.Az reports.

However, according to him, the strategy may be adjusted when necessary in line with the current international situation.

He stressed that Tehran and Beijing share common positions on many international issues, including regional security, respect for the rule of law, opposition to unilateral approaches, as well as cooperation within international organizations and in the trade and economic spheres.

In conclusion, he said the appointment of Ghalibaf would contribute to further strengthening political, diplomatic, and economic ties between Iran and China.
