Iran says control of Strait of Hormuz outweighs nuclear arms
12 July 2026 16:14
Mohsen Rezaee, a military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, has stated that control over the Strait of Hormuz is a more significant strategic asset than possessing nuclear weapons.
“The strategic passage through the Strait of Hormuz is more important than dozens of atomic bombs, and Iran will defend it,” he noted.
Rezaee also stressed that the United States and Israel had “crossed Iran’s red lines” and argued that this should be met with “decisive and proportionate punishment.”
According to the Iranian official, no country would be safe if the practice of eliminating national leaders became commonplace.
