Iran says IRGC naval intelligence chief killed

Iran announced on Friday, March 27, that Behnam Rezaei, the head of intelligence for the Naval Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, had been killed, according to a report by Shafaq News.

Iranian state television confirmed Rezaei’s death but did not disclose any details regarding the circumstances or location of the incident.

The announcement came after earlier claims by Israel that recent strikes targeted senior IRGC naval leadership. According to those statements, the commander of the IRGC Navy, Alireza Tangsiri, was killed along with several other officers, including Rezaei.

Tangsiri had been serving as commander of the IRGC Navy since 2018.
