Iran says it foils armed attack plot in Golestan province
28 March 2026 12:26
Iranian authorities say they have foiled a planned armed attack in the country’s northern Golestan province, arresting two men accused of involvement.
According to official statements released on March 28, security forces identified a “cell” allegedly linked to the United States and Israel. The identification was based on public communications and surveillance data, officials said, Caliber.Az reports per Tasnim.
The suspects were detained in the provincial capital, Gorgan, before the alleged attack could be carried out, authorities added. The target was members of Iran’s security forces.
During a raid on a suspected hideout, security personnel seized four Colt rifles and 43 rounds of ammunition, according to the statement.
