Iran says it has evidence of US, Israeli involvement in ongoing unrest

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Tehran holds a “large number of documents” proving the involvement of the United States and Israel in terrorist acts carried out by recent insurgents in the country.

Araghchi made the remarks during a meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Tehran, which was broadcast by Iran’s state radio and television corporation, Caliber.Az reports via TASS.

“We have a large number of documents demonstrating the involvement of both the US and Israel in the terrorist actions of recent days in Iran,” the foreign minister said.

The ongoing anti-government protests in Iran, now in their 16th day since erupting on December 28, 2025, were triggered by the collapse of the Iranian rial, hyperinflation, skyrocketing food and essential goods prices, energy shortages, and perceived government mismanagement.

According to the rights group HRANA, at least 544 people, including 48 security personnel, have died during demonstrations. Authorities have arrested over 10,600 individuals since the demonstrations began.
