Iran says it shot down Israeli-made Hermes 900 drone over Khuzestan Photo

Iranian air defence forces have shot down a drone identified as an Israeli-made Hermes 900 in southwestern Iran. 

The country’s integrated air defence system detected the unmanned aerial vehicle over the city of Indika in Khuzestan province before destroying it, Iranian sources said. The drone was reportedly identified as having been manufactured in Israel, Fars reports. 

According to the reports, the aircraft was intercepted shortly after being detected by Iranian defence systems and was subsequently destroyed by Iranian military forces.

Military analysts estimate that drones of this type can cost up to about $30 million, depending on their configuration and equipment. The Hermes 900 is a long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle commonly used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
