Iran says it used ceasefire to boost military power, warns of “new fronts”

Iran has treated the period of ceasefire with the United States as a continuation of wartime conditions and used it to strengthen its military capabilities, according to an army spokesperson.

“The Islamic Republic’s army has treated the ceasefire period as a time of war and used the opportunity to strengthen its combat power,” Mohammad Akraminia said on May 19, Iran International reports.

Akraminia warned that Iran’s armed forces would respond strongly in the event of renewed hostilities, including the possibility of escalating the conflict.

He said that if Iran were attacked again, the military would open “new fronts” using new tools and methods.
