Iran says Khamenei's wife is alive

Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, the wife of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, is alive, according to a report by the IRGC-affiliated Fars News on March 12. 

The clarification comes after speculation arose when the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, did not mention his mother’s death in his first public statement. In the immediate aftermath of Ali Khamenei’s killing, several Iranian state media outlets had reported that his wife had also died.
