Iran says neighbors propose new regional security architecture

Iranian authorities have received messages from neighboring states proposing the creation of a new security system in the Persian Gulf, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on X.

“1/2 We’ve received numerous messages from neighboring countries about shaping new security arrangements and economic cooperation in the region,” Ghalibaf wrote.

He did not specify which countries had sent the messages. The Iranian parliament speaker stressed that peace in the region can only be ensured by an independent security system.
