Iran says oil tanker reached ports after defying US naval threats
An Iranian oil tanker has entered the territorial waters of Iran despite warnings from a United States naval group, according to the statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The tanker, identified as Sili City, reached Iranian waters on Monday evening after transiting the Arabian Sea under the protection of Iranian naval forces. Officials said the vessel completed its journey despite repeated warnings and threats issued by US naval forces.
Iran’s army said through its public relations department that the tanker is now located at one of the country’s southern ports, without providing further operational details.
The development follows earlier reports that the same tanker approached Kharg Island on Tuesday, April 21, after crossing a blockade line while returning to Iranian waters, highlighting ongoing maritime tensions in the region.
