Iran secures deal with Russia for 12 Mi-17 helicopters
28 May 2024 13:12
Iran has recently finalized an agreement with Russia to acquire 12 Mi-17 helicopters, with four expected to be delivered by March 2025.
The procurement aims to bolster Iran's Red Crescent Society operations, Avio News reports.
The contract is estimated to be worth approximately $500 million. The new helicopters will come equipped with advanced night vision systems, enhancing their capability to operate in low visibility conditions.
This deal follows closely after a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation.
