Iran: Strait of Hormuz open, no blockade in place

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said the Strait of Hormuz remains open for commercial shipping, while warning of possible technical limitations related to security concerns.

Speaking in an interview with NTV on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Khatibzadeh clarified Iran’s position, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“There is no ambiguity for us on this issue. I cannot speak for the other side, whose policy may be aimed at confusing everyone. The Strait of Hormuz is open for the passage of commercial vessels. Of course, we are talking about the period after the ceasefire. There may be a number of technical restrictions due to mines and security issues,” he said.
