Iran warns of Hormuz access curbs for those receiving its frozen funds

Iran has threatened to restrict passage through the Strait of Hormuz for vessels belonging to countries and companies that receive funds from frozen Iranian assets.

The statement came amid reports that the United States plans to use those assets to compensate ships damaged during the conflict, Caliber.Az reports.

Ebrahim Zolfaghari, representative of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Tehran considers such a mechanism illegal. According to him, Iran's armed forces will prevent vessels belonging to countries and companies benefiting from such payments from passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran also held the US administration responsible for any potential consequences.
