Iran to join BRICS New Development Bank soon
Iran will soon become a member of the New Development Bank (NDB), also known as the BRICS Bank, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said.
According to the Central Bank's public relations office, Hemmati made the remarks while attending the BRICS summit in India, IRNA reports.
He said the establishment of the New Development Bank was the most important outcome of cooperation among BRICS member states, adding that Iran would soon join the institution.
Hemmati also said cooperation among BRICS members had begun in the monetary, banking and digital economy sectors.
He described the BRICS summit as an important opportunity to meet officials from member states, with which Iran has the most extensive monetary and banking exchanges and interactions.
Regarding monetary and financial cooperation, Hemmati said BRICS members could conduct trade using their national currencies. He added that Iran was seeking bilateral and trilateral monetary cooperation with member states.
