Iran to present draft resolution on nuclear facility protection
The Islamic Republic of Iran plans to submit a draft resolution at the upcoming General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in which it will refer to the attacks on its nuclear facilities as unacceptable, diplomatic sources told Mehr.
According to the sources, the document is being finalised and will be tabled during the conference, which will convene in Vienna on September 15 for a five-day session.
Russia’s permanent representative to international organisations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, confirmed the plan in a post on X.
He responded to criticism from a Wall Street Journal correspondent over Moscow’s support for Iran’s earlier proposal at the IAEA Board of Governors, stressing that the upcoming submission concerns the General Conference, not the Board.
Ulyanov added that those commenting on the issue should distinguish between the two IAEA bodies to avoid confusion.
