Iran uncovers Israeli-linked Spike missile launchers, drone assembly workshop PHOTO

16 June 2025 16:21

Iranian intelligence forces have uncovered customised launchers for Spike missiles— Israeli-made fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missiles—equipped with sophisticated internet-based automation and remote control systems.

The launchers are designed specifically to suppress Iran’s air defence capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iran's Mehr news agency.

According to the news agency, these missile launchers were operated by agents linked to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, highlighting a covert attempt to undermine Iran’s military security through technologically enhanced weaponry

The Spike missile family, developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems of Israel, is renowned for its versatility and precision. With versions featuring electro-optical guidance—including infrared and daylight cameras—Spike missiles can engage targets accurately at long distances. Their fire-and-forget capability allows operators to lock on to a target and immediately relocate, reducing risk during combat.

While primarily designed as anti-tank weapons, Spike missiles have demonstrated effectiveness against fortified positions and even low-speed aerial targets, making them a potent threat to air defence installations.

In a related development, police in Esfahan Province in central Iran reported the discovery of an illegal workshop storing components and equipment used for assembling drones and micro-UAVs.

The report, released by Tasnim news agency, states that four individuals suspected of involvement in the drone assembly have been detained. Iranian authorities described the suspects as "mercenaries of the Zionist regime."

During the raid, a significant volume of parts and equipment intended for drone production was seized. The case is currently under investigation by Iranian security forces.
