Iran urges EU to rethink policy amid resumed nuclear talks with US
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the European Union to reconsider what he described as its counterproductive approach toward Tehran.
Araghchi made the remarks during a phone conversation on the evening of February 13 with Constantinos Kombos, the foreign minister of Cyprus. During the call, Kombos welcomed the resumption of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, expressing Cyprus’s readiness to support the process, Caliber.Az reports per Mehr.
Araghchi criticised the EU’s recent blacklisting of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and called attention to what he termed the bloc’s “improper indifference” to actions by the Israel in Gaza and other regional incidents.
He also briefed his Cypriot counterpart on the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Washington and efforts to lift sanctions imposed on Iran, highlighting Tehran’s interest in a diplomatic resolution to longstanding tensions.
