Tehran urges peaceful resolution to Russia-Ukraine conflict

29 December 2025 16:22

Iran reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei emphasizing Tehran’s long-standing stance on diplomatic solutions.

“Iran has consistently maintained that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia must be settled through peaceful means. We hope both countries can resolve their differences through dialogue as soon as possible, allowing an end to this costly war,” Baghaei stated, IRNA reports.

The spokesperson highlighted that while international organizations, including BRICS, may play a role in mediating the crisis, the primary responsibility for achieving peace rests with the parties directly involved in the conflict.

Baghaei also confirmed that preparations are underway for an official visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Iran. A fundamental agreement on the visit has been reached, with scheduling details currently being finalized. During the visit, the leaders are expected to discuss developments in Syria, bilateral trade cooperation, and efforts to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation, Baghaei noted that Iran continues to strengthen ties with neighboring countries to promote stability across the region.
