Iran vows major retaliation after killing of intelligence chief
06 April 2026 21:00
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to strike back following the killing of its intelligence chief, Major General Majid Khademi, Tasnim news agency reports.
“In order for the enemy to know, a major retaliatory strike by the IRGC’s intelligence directorate awaits the organizers and perpetrators of this crime,” the IRGC said in an official statement.
Khademi was killed on April 6 in a US-Israeli airstrike. He had been appointed head of the IRGC’s intelligence unit on June 19 last year, succeeding Mohammad Kazemi, who was killed in an Israeli strike during the 12-day war in summer 2025.
