Iran warns Armenia becoming hub for forces hostile to Tehran
Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami has warned that Armenia is increasingly being perceived as a center of activity for forces hostile to Iran.
“A group of people has the opportunity, and is given the green light, to come to the Iranian Embassy in Armenia and make disrespectful and offensive statements,” Shirgholami said during a press conference on January 14, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“For six consecutive days, from 18:00 to 21:00, they have been demonstrating in front of the embassy, making disrespectful and offensive remarks. Despite our repeated complaints, this process continues. We have conveyed our grievances many times to the relevant Armenian authorities. In the most difficult moments, we stood by the Armenian government—there are many examples. Today, we find ourselves in a difficult situation, and what is happening at the Iranian Embassy in Armenia will remain in the historical memory of the Iranian people. I believe I have made myself clear,” Shirgholami noted.
The ambassador also highlighted concerns over potential instability in Iran and the activation of separatist forces aimed at fragmenting the country.
“This was originally planned by Israel. They will not succeed, but if they do manage to achieve it, Armenia will be among the losers. I think this point requires no further explanation,” Shirgholami added.
